My approach to teens is to start with the whole family. We will talk about all the possibilities for the cause of your teen needing counseling and all possible solutions. We will look at any substance abuse or school problems.

I follow the “Let’s fix the kids!” philosophy by Dr. James Jones. I am committed to helping not just the teen, but the whole family. It’s satisfying when the family and the teen get that there’s a problem and are committed to fixing it.

I have worked at two different residential treatment centers in Utah, which is where residential treatment centers first got their start 25 years ago. I believe in residential treatment centers and know that there are times when they are necessary, especially in cases of an oppositional defiant disorder and/or conduct disorder. All avenues are always explored to find what is best for the whole family.
